On Monday 23rd July, I was lucky enough to spend the day in training with Jack Daly. For those who don’t know who Jack – in his own words he “is a leading sales speaker and trainer with over 30 years of sales and executive experience. Jack’s track record is a testament to his real-world knowledge and extensive expertise in sales and sales management. He started his professional journey at CPA firm Arthur Andersen and rose to the CEO level of several corporations, building six companies into national firms along the way, two of which he subsequently sold to the Wall Street firms of Solomon Brothers and First Boston. In addition to his comprehensive professional background, Jack holds a BS in Accounting, as well as an MBA, and was a Captain in the U.S. Army. Jack Daly is an Amazon Best Selling Author and has written and contributed to many books, including Hyper Sales Growth and The Sales Playbook for Hyper Sales Growth. Jack is a 15-time Ironman competitor and has completed over 93 marathons in 49 states and on six continents. He achieves these goals and lives life to the fullest by following his own Life by Design techniques.”
The day with Jack was rapid fire and jam packed with content. Even with a workbook you had to be locked in to capture all the excellent information he was sharing. He commanded the stage with his direct, yet personable approach and gave tools and processes that could be actioned immediately into any sales business.
He talked heavily about systems and process and modeling the masters and I loved his approach to both business and more importantly life towards his goal, bucket list and pursuit of excellence. I appreciated him sharing more on a personal level over lunch but also taking the time to coach us through his approach to hiring and remuneration in the sales profession.
I can’t wait to jump into his book Hyper Sales Growth but more importantly to execute on the multitude of action items I had for our business on the day.
Jack’s Gems:
Here are some of my key quotes from Jack on the day:
Sports teams are run better than most businesses.
You must have a sales system and processes playbook.
Find your passion – if you are happy and the people around you are happy then the money will find you!
If you are not passionate about what you do then quit!
If you are not taking the time to practice as a team of sales professionals then you are practicing on your customers. What are you doing!
Be ‘The Person’ in your industry – be the person who either knows the answer or can find the person that does.
Trust always trumps price.
Two people who want to do business together won’t let the details keep it from happening. If two people don’t want to do business together, the details won’t make it happen.
Follow the Platinum Rule “Treat people how they want to be treated”.
Relationships are targeted efforts – not random occurrences.
Constantly raise the bar!
Attitude is everything – half the battle is in your head!
He finished the day with the lessons he learnt as an Ironman that translate to being a sales professional. Such great wisdom here and having competed in various mentally and physically demanding events I can certainly relate! (Maybe I should put an Ironman on the list! Jack started at 57 and I’m not there yet)
I have included these below from his website. www.jackdaly.net - I also recommend you take the time to subscribe if you are a professional in sales!
Thanks Jack for sharing your wisdom and knowledge. I look forward to meeting up again next time you are in Australia.
