A white dress, a subway grate and Marilyn Munroe with her timeless pose.
You know the picture. You can see it in your head. It's from the 1955 movie, The Seven Year Itch.
What is the seven year itch? It's a psychological term that suggests that happiness in a relationship declines after seven years.

Well.........
March this year marks my 7 year anniversary at Aurec Group leading our Victorian team.
What a journey it has been!
Joining a business with established offices in Sydney, Canberra and Singapore, the Melbourne business started with humble beginnings (3 staff in a small office) and have grown and achieved something remarkable.
Our achievements as a Group and in Victoria include but are not limited to:
Growth year on year in excess of 35%
Staff diversity – our senior leadership team is gender diverse 50/50, our team nationally is 53% male/47% female and our team hold 15 different passports. We believe this diversity drives our results.
Staff retention – 80% staff retention for this financial year
Contractor retention – over 91% off our contractors remain with Aurec for greater than 12 months and 86% remaining for longer than 3 years. This is testament to our team and philosophy of candidate/contractor care.
Net Promoter Score (NPS) – Aurec’s current NPS score is currently 68 against a global industry average of 21 and ranges between 35-50 in Australia. (https://www.aurec.com/nps)
Multiple Awards – Aurec have been consistently awarded across the industry including Regional Finalist (Excellence in Business), Recruitment International (Back Office of The Year, Recruiter Of The Year, Finalist – Growth Company of The Year), Global Recruiter Awards, (Best Client Service In Asia Pac) (https://www.aurec.com/awards-and-recognition)
There have been up and downs. Inheriting an office in startup mode is hard. Building a brand in a new market is challenging, (I will talk more about this in future posts) but with the right team, leadership, relationships and mindset all things are possible.
So how have I avoided the 7 year itch at Aurec? Here are my 7 short takeaways:
Have clear, consistent and transparent communication at all levels. Don’t be afraid to challenge one another respectfully. Always expect more!
Have shared vision, purpose and goals that you drive towards.
Reflect and assess regularly what is and isn't working - At a corporate, team and personal level. (And remember the grass isn’t greener even if it may look like that)
Shake things up. Look for new ideas, ways to innovate. Build new routines and habits that drive success. Move forward together.
Continue to develop both personally (individually) and professionally (together), share knowledge, communicate and improve.
Celebrate your successes!
Be grateful and show gratitude across the team. It’s the little things people remember. How you make them feel is equally as important as any results you achieve.
I would like to thank everyone who has contributed and continues to support our journey including:
Saul Kwintner – for the opportunity, consistency in your leadership and drive for the Aurec Group.
Our senior leadership team – Saul Kwintner, Ryan Evans, Nicole Cawston, Glenn Marland, Kelly Lloyd, Jennifer Liang and Sharon Moore. A high performing group, with a broad range of perspectives that will continue to take us to the next level.
Aurec team nationally – we have a fantastic culture of high performance and a strong team identity.
Our VIC Team – Adam Jasnikowski, Jason Raju, Sophie Saba, Andreas McKenzie, Lachlan Shields, Rochelle Brooke-Stowe, Joseph Lee, Rory De Goede, Lisa Cusmiskey and Jeff (who joins us shortly). Our success is a reflection of you and you make it worthwhile each and every day. What a team we have, thank you!
Past employees – you have all left a mark on our business (for the better) and helped shape our culture and DNA. I appreciate the contributions you made and I am pleased when I see you all strive forward in your careers.
Clients/Contractors/Candidates – none of our success if possible without you! Thank you for continued support and feedback. We appreciate it.
Mentors – both inside and outside of the industry for your unique perspective and for pushing me to become the best version of myself.
And last but not least my support network outside of work. My amazing family, great friends and creator.
Aurec Group is currently celebrating our 15 years as a business and reflecting on the 7 years I can confidently say I am more than excited than ever before. I look into our future with renewed passion as we strive towards our purpose to Drive Success, Empower Careers and Deliver Transformation. We have some exciting new developments we will be bringing to the market to increase candidate engagement in the coming months (among other initiatives) and I believe we are positioned to grow from strength to strength.
Here’s to another 7 years!!
